The Challenge of St Andrews Audio Visual systems
The shape and nature of St Andrews caused a lot of problems when trying to move sound and visual information around. The plain hard surfaces and vaulted roof, cause a long reverberation times - which can make some sounds very difficult to understand clearly even caused sounds to bounces back around the walls, worship instruments sounded like mini explosions going off! It also made the old sound system prone to feedback.
This has now all been fixed with the reordering of St Andrews in 2007. What happened was all the old oak pews were removed, and replaced with new chairs, carpeting was laid throughout the church, St Andrews also invested money in a new AV suite. We got a local sound equipment supplier and manufacturer Adlib Audio come in to St Andrews and help guide us through the complex world of Audio Visual Systems(AV). In other words they advised us what was needed and expertly installed all the AV equipment.
When we went live back in December 2007 you could hear and see a massive improvement in the quality of Sound and Vision. We are still work inprogress as we train new team members
