Men's Ministry
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Prov 27v17
St Andrews New and exciting men’s ministry.
The idea to provide opportunity for Christian men to explore their faith and be both challenged an built up through our 'TALK' programme. The ministry also provides an opportunity through our 'PLAY' programme for Christian and Non-Christian men to get together informally to relax, mix and to talk about life and to see what the Bible has to say about the issues men face today.
TALK
· Winter Conference
Last winter a very successful men’s day conference was held at St Andrews. The plan is to run this event again, so watch this space for further details. The men’s conference is designed to be a time of challenge and a time of change. It is designed to be a time of refreshing and a time of connecting.
· Network Prayer
At St Andrews, we provide the opportunity for men to pray together. There is a growing network of men who support each other in prayer regardless of whether it is about work or rest or play.
· Bodacious
For the past two years the men of St Andrews have organised a Christmas outreach in to the parish. In both instances, we went from door to door singing carols and giving a gift to each household we contacted. Our heart desire is to expand this and also include other special projects within the parish and internationally that will require our time and skill.
PLAY
· iHoC
The ‘international house of curry’ is a fun way for men to get together, relax, watch a match and eat fabulous curry. This lasts throughout the football season. iHoC is designed as an interface between men of faith and those who are seeking or just good friends. You don’t have to love footy to attend!
· Summer Cookout
As with iHoC, this event is rolling throughout the summer months and overlaps with the Football season. It’s about men getting together to BBQ. The Summer Cookout provides all the opportunity of iHoC. It’s a great opportunity for us to mix together, get to know each other and maybe provide some answers to those who are seeking or are in need of encouragement.
· Off Road!
Every couple of months, we organise a ramble and/or MTB ride (Mountain Bike) for men of any fitness level. This is an opportunity to fellowship and have a great day out. The day usually involves a steady walk/ride catering to the un-initiated and includes a pub or packed lunch with plenty of time to talk. It’s a great opportunity to bring along mates who are not of faith.
