5th June 2008: Mission to Malawi

For three weeks seven people from Church will be working in Malawi with a missionary family who briefly belonged to our church. Jim and Diane Young are from New Zealand but spent almost a year with us while Diane did a course at the School of Tropical Medicine. They are based near Lilongwe where Diane works as a Doctor and Jim trains Sunday School Teachers.

The seven people going will be doing a variety of things with the people out there. They will be helping to put on roofs on two churches that have been built but the congregations haven't been able to raise the funds for the roofs. The team may also be able to get involved in helping with a medical centre that an outlying village hopes to build. As a church we are raising the funds for the roofs and the medical centre, which all together will cost around £5000.

The team of people are Ian Williams, John Ford, Margaret Carroll, Martin Donovan, Rachel Smith, Lyn Richards and Dave Dainty. They are raising the funds to get out there for themselves.
